Pre-College Art Major Portfolio

The range of universities and majors can be overwhelming for even the students most confident about their future in art and design. We will be there to help you analyze your options with the eyes of having made it out the other side—through building your portfolio, writing your artist statements, finding where to apply and deciding where to go. Additionally, we can include financial aid advising and letters of recommendation.

Pre-College Art Supplement

As creativity is essential to all disciplines, art/design is not only for those who will pursue careers as artists and designers. We provide elective education for students to gain these skills on their own time and unrestrained by school resources. We also help produce successful art supplements to strengthen your college applications in any major.

College Paths

If you are already in college but shifting your interests toward art/design, we will help you clarify your focus and determine what path you should take in order to complete your education to your greatest advantage for these fields, based on or beyond what is available at your current institution.

Career Advising

We offer support in launching your career in art/design and sharing your skills with the world. Our experiences in both working and hiring will give you inside guidance on optimizing your portfolio and organizing your assets in the job market to present your best self.

Phases

Our programs each consist of three linear phases:

The length of each phase is flexible to the student's goals. Each phase may be supplemented by ANDLAB curated workshops, excursions, and student showcases. Phase 3 may be followed by extended studies and master projects with us or our associates.

Phase 1 - Find

Through consultations and personalized projects, we investigate the existing experience, positionality, artistic voice, and natural path of development for the student. The student composes a vision statement and outlines a plan of action to reference throughout the course of the program.

Phase 2 - Work

The student expands their breadth of knowledge and skills while building a mature body of work that is unique to them and fulfills their Phase 1 objectives. We tailor foundational lessons and strategic assignments, and guide them in one-on-one constructive critiques, portfolio requirements, and time management.

Phase 3 - Follow

We complete any applications or other program projects and evaluate the post results for final action advising consistent with the student's direction. The loose ends are tied up with threads of self-reflection and student initiative for continued self-growth, and check-in meetings stay available as needed to ensure the student is well-oriented in their destination.
